GCLEA is happy to offer the Al-Hikmah Institute Diploma in Islamic Sciences program to our members, congregation and south Jersey community.

Spring Semester 2017

Join Shaykh John Starling this Spring for the following:

Studies in Islamic Law: Zakat & Fasting

April 6-May 28, Thursdays from 8-9pm

Just in time for Ramadan, this course covers the most common issues as it pertains to zakat and fasting. Students will study select chapters from the classic work of Islamic Jurisprudence, Commencement of the Worshiper by Imam al-Ba’li.

The first 5 students to register and attend will receive a free course book.

Al-Madinah Arabic 4

April 6-December 28, Thursdays 7-8 pm

This classical Arabic course is the last primary book of the Madinah University Arabic curriculum.  Students will be studying advanced grammar, reading, translation, vocabulary, writing, and conversation. Students will be required to complete assignments, and pass both a midterm and final exam.

Winter Semester 2017

Join Shaykh Rashid Ahmadi this Winter for the following courses:

Hadith Studies
Jan. 24, Tuesdays 8-9 pm
This course will cover Kitab al-Jami’ (The Comprehensive Book) from Imam Ibn Hajar’s masterpiece collection, Bulugh al-Maram (Attainment of the Objective). The Comprehensive book consists of six chapters and 123 hadith, and they are as follows:

Chapter 1: Good Character (16 hadith)

Chapter 2: Righteousness and Keeping the Ties of Kinship (14 hadith)

Chapter 3: Ascetism and Wara’ (11 hadith)

Chapter 4: Warning Against Bad Character (37 hadith)

Chapter 5: Encouraging Good Character (18 hadith)

Chapter 6: Remembrance of Allah and Supplications (27 hadith)

Students will be required to complete assignments, and pass both a midterm and final exam.

Al-Madinah Arabic 1
Tuesdays 7-8 pm
This classical Arabic course introduces the student to grammar, reading, translation, vocabulary, writing, and conversation. Students will begin to comprehend and construct short sentences in Arabic which will aid them in understanding the Holy Quran and other Arabic texts. Students will be required to complete assignments, and pass both a midterm and final exam.

Qari (Quran and Recitation Institute)
Mondays and Wednesdays
Kids: 5 PM – 6:25 PM
Adults: 6:45 PM- 7:45 PM

Students will enhance their recitation, and learn tajweed both theoretically and practically. Focus will be on the practical aspect of tajweed. In addition, we will accommodate those who wish to memorize the Quran. Students should bring their own copy of the Mushaf with them.

The registration fee is $200 per semester. This fee will be waived for GCLEA members!
