Are You an Entrepreneur?/How to Start a Small Business – 3 hours

This is an overview seminar that touches on issues of personality, business knowledge, experience, and the proper time, place and financing. Also covered will be the importance of business plans, networking, and insurance, marketing vs. public relations, home-based vs. non home-based businesses, and the availability of grants and loans.

Everything you ever wanted to know about opening a business presented in the format of preparing your formal written business plan. Legal, marketing, accounting and financing are all addressed in depth, as are techniques to make the project happen.
Maintaining & Repairing Your Credit – 3 hours

Some of the topics to be covered in this class are credit score-how it’s determined and how to improve it, credit reports-how to access them, how to read and understand them, what factors impact them and how to improve them, and credit fraud prevention-what to do about lost or stolen identity information and to be aware of fishing methods.
Bookkeeping & Introduction to QuickBooks – 8 hours – 3 sessions
All three session must be taken on the above dates
First learn basic bookkeeping concepts for your business, then learn how to set up and use the basic features of this popular and user-friendly accounting program. This seminar will be presented with laptop computers, seating 2 persons to a computer.
Build Your Marketing Plan – 3 hours

Topics covered in this course include maximizing your precious marketing dollars, timely tips to help market your business, finding the right media mix, low-cost marketing ideas, and using Public Relations to stand out from the crowd.
Raising Your Sales IQ – 3 hours

Some of the topics to be covered in this class are selling benefits and value, overcoming objections, closing the sale, why people need what you sell, defining a unique selling position and identifying specific customer needs.
Public Speaking – 3 hours
2/11/15 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
This seminar focuses on creating a structured presentation, illustrating anatomy roles during presentation delivery, practicing techniques for “Q & A”, and evaluating and developing action plans for improvement.
A business plan will be prepared and submitted
Top 10 participants will present their plan to judging panel
Awards will be made in June 2015
